Leather Cuffs
Right from the time I acquired a book on ethnic jewellery many years ago, I have been inspired to create tribal designs and mount them onto leather wrist cuffs.
Leather cuffs have been around since the Romans, but many are not finished to a high standard. The appeal of making a quality cuff by combining leather and mounting precious metals, such as sterling silver, rose gold, and gemstones was one I had experimented with for a long period of time..
The idea was thrown to the back burner until I walked 300km on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. The architecture and ancient symbols I experienced along the path inspired me to investigate further. A friend helped me with the original prototypes and after many, many hours of trial and error I devised a method for handcrafting a quality product.
Through the combination of hand finished Italian leather and embellished designs that draw on Celtic themes, mystical symbols, tribal jewellery and historic architecture. It is highly rewarding to craft each piece and I am very proud to have created a quality accessory.
